The practical reality is that there is almost no local turban tying service — so weddings here have traditionally depended on whichever relative was handiest, or on someone travelling up from Leeds or further.
We fill that gap. Middlesbrough is around 80 minutes from Doncaster via the A1(M) and A19, and we cover the whole of Teesside: Stockton-on-Tees, Thornaby, Billingham, Redcar, Guisborough, Yarm, Ingleby Barwick, Hartlepool and Darlington. Middlesbrough is about seventy-five miles north, up the A1(M) and across on the A19 — roughly an hour and a half. It is the one direction where we are travelling away from the rest of our patch rather than through it.
Teesside has a smaller Sikh community than the Yorkshire and Midlands cities we cover, which has a practical consequence worth being direct about: there are fewer turban tyers locally, and families here often have to look further afield. That is precisely why we make the trip, and why Teesside bookings are frequently for the whole wedding party rather than just the groom — if someone is coming from Doncaster, it makes sense to have everyone tied while we are there.
