Turban Tying
Prices

We quote per booking rather than from a fixed price list โ€” because one groom on a wedding morning and a party of fifteen guests are completely different jobs. Here is exactly what moves the number, so you know what to expect before you ask.

How Much Does Turban Tying Cost?

The honest answer, and the four details that decide it.

Turban tying in the UK is quoted per booking, not per hour. The price is built from four things: the style you want, how many people are being tied, how far we travel, and what time of day you need us. Tell us those four and you will have a firm figure the same day.

We know a lot of sites make you ring up to find out anything at all. That is not the intention here. We do not publish a fixed list because a fixed list would be misleading for most of the people reading it โ€” a single reception pagg and a wedding morning where eleven people need tying before the baraat leaves are not the same job, and pretending otherwise just means quoting you twice.

What we can do is show you the whole calculation. Below is every factor that moves the price, what it does, and what to send us so the quote comes back accurate the first time.

What changes the price of a turban tying booking
FactorWhy it mattersWhat to tell us
StyleA full Patiala Shahi with a set kalgi takes considerably longer than a clean fitted pagg for a reception. The style name if you know it, or a photo of the look you want.
Number of peopleMost of the cost in a wedding booking is time. Ten people tied in one visit is far cheaper per head than ten visits.A rough headcount โ€” groom, father, brothers, uncles, children, guests.
LocationWe are based in Doncaster. Yorkshire is a short hop; South Wales or the North West means an early start and a long drive. The town and venue, or at least the postcode area.
TimingWedding mornings are tight and often start before dawn. A weekday afternoon in the studio is a different job.The date, and what time the baraat or ceremony starts.
OccasionA wedding needs a turban that survives a full day. A photoshoot or a gurpurab has different demands.Wedding, reception, dastar bandi, gurpurab, photoshoot or everyday wear.
ClothMost people bring their own voile or F74. If you need us to advise on or source cloth, that changes things.Whether you have cloth already, and its colour and length.
First-time customer offer: new customers booking a group get ยฃ15โ€“ยฃ20 off their first booking. We apply it automatically when we quote โ€” there is no code to remember.

What Every Booking Includes

The things some people expect to pay extra for. You do not.

  • A proper consultation first. We talk through the style, the outfit and the occasion before anything is tied. If a style will not suit your face shape or your sherwani, we will say so.
  • Colour matching. Bring the sherwani, the lehenga photo or a swatch and we match to it. See our turban colour matching guide for how we approach it.
  • A turban that holds. Tied to last a full wedding day โ€” ceremony, photographs, dancing and all. That is the whole point.
  • Adjustment on the day. If something needs a tweak before you leave, we tweak it.
  • Straight advice on cloth. What length you need, what fabric suits the style, and what to avoid โ€” at no charge, whether or not you book.

What sits outside a standard quote is travel beyond Yorkshire, very early starts, and sourcing cloth on your behalf. All three are quoted openly with the booking rather than added afterwards.

What Kind of Booking Do You Need?

Different jobs, priced differently. Find the row that sounds like you.

Roughly what each booking type involves
Booking typeWho it is forWhat it involves
Single turbanOne person โ€” reception, interview, photoshoot, gurdwara visitOne fitting, one style, usually at the studio in Doncaster.
Groom packageThe groom on his wedding morningColour matched to the sherwani, formal style, kalgi set, tied to hold all day.
Wedding partyGroom plus father, brothers, uncles and childrenOne visit, everyone tied in sequence, worked back from when the baraat leaves.
Guest groupWedding guests who want a pagg or safa for the dayFaster per person, tied in a run, usually at the venue or hotel.
1:1 trainingAnyone learning to tie their ownTaught at the Doncaster studio over a number of sessions.

If you are unsure which row you are in, describe the day and we will work it out with you. Most wedding enquiries turn out to be a groom package plus a guest group, tied in one visit.

Book the Whole Party Together

The single biggest thing you can do to bring the cost down.

Most of what you are paying for on a wedding morning is time and travel, and both of those happen once per visit rather than once per person. Tying ten people in a single visit costs dramatically less per head than ten separate appointments โ€” and it is also far less stressful, because everybody is ready at the same moment instead of trickling back one at a time.

How to make a group booking work

  1. Get everyone in one place. The family home, the hotel, or a room at the gurdwara. Anywhere with a mirror and a bit of space.
  2. Give us a headcount early. Even a rough one. It determines what time we arrive.
  3. Work backwards from the baraat. Tell us when you need to leave and we plan the morning around it โ€” see how long turban tying takes for the timings.
  4. Have the cloth ready. Pressed and to length, ideally the night before.

Guests who want a turban for the day are usually quoted as a block rather than individually. If you are inviting friends who have never worn one, our guide to turbans for wedding guests is worth sending round in advance.

Where We Go and What It Costs

Doncaster-based, travelling for weddings and group bookings.

We are based in Doncaster and travel regularly across Yorkshire, the Midlands, the North West and South Wales. Travel within Yorkshire is normally built into the booking. Beyond that, it is quoted with the job and depends on two things: the distance, and how early we need to be there.

An 8am tie in Leeds and a 5am start for a South Wales wedding are not the same commitment, and we would rather price that honestly than bury it. Our home visit turban service page explains how travel bookings run on the day.

How to Get an Exact Quote

Four details, one message, an answer the same day.

  1. Message us on WhatsApp with the date, the town or venue, the number of people, and the occasion.
  2. Add a photo of the outfit or the turban style you have in mind, if you have one. It removes most of the guesswork.
  3. We reply with a figure โ€” normally the same day, including travel, with the first-time discount applied if it is your first booking.

If your date is already booked we will tell you immediately rather than leave you hanging. Wedding season fills up months ahead, so if you have a date, it is worth asking early even if nothing else is decided.

FAQs

Straight answers about what turban tying costs and why we quote the way we do.

Ask Us โ†—
How much does turban tying cost in the UK?+
There is no single figure, because a booking for one groom and a booking for fifteen guests are different jobs. Price is built from four things: the style, how many people are being tied, where we travel to, and what time of day you need us. Send those four details and we will quote.
Why don't you publish a fixed price list?+
Because a fixed list would be wrong for most people who read it. A single reception pagg and a wedding morning where we tie the groom, his father, four brothers and six guests before the baraat leaves are not comparable. We would rather give you one accurate number than a list of caveats.
Is the groom's turban priced differently to the guests'?+
Usually, yes. A groom's wedding dastar takes longer โ€” the style is more formal, the colour is matched to the sherwani, the kalgi is set, and it needs to hold through a full day of ceremony and photographs. Guest turbans are quicker and are normally quoted as a group.
Do you charge for travel?+
Travel within Yorkshire is usually built into the booking. For longer journeys โ€” the Midlands, the North West, South Wales โ€” travel is quoted with the job, and depends on distance and how early we need to arrive. You will see the total before you commit.
Is it cheaper to book the whole wedding party together?+
Yes. Tying ten people in one visit costs far less per person than ten separate bookings, because the travel and setup happen once. If family are staying at the same hotel or house on the morning, book them together.
Do you ask for a deposit?+
For wedding dates we normally take a deposit to hold the morning, because we can only be in one place at a time and wedding season books out early. The balance is settled on the day. We will confirm the terms in writing when you book.
What is the first-time customer offer?+
New customers booking a group get ยฃ15โ€“ยฃ20 off their first booking. It applies to the booking as a whole rather than per person, and we will apply it when we quote โ€” you do not need a code.
How quickly will I get a quote?+
Message us on WhatsApp with the date, the town, the number of people and the occasion, and you will normally have a figure back the same day. If your date is already taken we will tell you straight away rather than leave you waiting.
